Background
Enschede-based Hoppmann Solutions provides solutions for supply and assembly processes. With their extensive expertise in advanced production machinery, they provide customized solutions for various industries.
For a project intended for the American market, Hoppmann was looking for a reliable partner for hardware engineering and panel construction. We were commissioned to realize the UL control panels, a down-to-earth Twente cooperation!
Challenge
The project is aimed at the US market, which means the system must meet strict UL guidelines. For RIWO, this means that the control panels must have cULus certification - a combined approval valid for both the United States (UL-us) and Canada (UL-c). This also requires compliance with the regulations of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
Although UL and CSA regulations share many similarities, subtle but relevant differences exist. Meeting cULus standards therefore requires both knowledge of both standards, as well as precise engineering and formal certification of the final control panels.
Solution
RIWO provides complete hardware engineering and panel construction and built control panels that meet the combined requirements of cULus. The necessary inspections are also provided. Two options exist for certification: clients can choose to have RIWO build the panels according to UL guidelines and then have the complete machine inspected themselves. Alternatively, as in the case of Hoppmann, the inspection of the panels takes place directly at RIWO.
