Energy flexibility services

Energy - System integration - Process control

Better balance the supply and demand of electricity.

Background

With the increase in renewable energy sources and limited network capacity, energy supply and demand are increasingly out of sync. In addition, energy consumers and producers frequently have flexibility within their energy consumption without knowing it.

Flexibility is the deployment of processes and systems that better balance the supply and demand of electricity. By means of a Virtual Power Plant controlled by smart algorithms, owners of installations such as batteries, wind turbines, solar panels, freezing installations can make use of flexibility services. This creates an interesting revenue model and keeps the energy grid in better balance.

Curtailment

Having wind and solar farms temporarily produce less or even shut down (curtail) can save costs or generate revenue. When the supply of energy on the power grid, due to solar or wind production, among other things, exceeds demand, the grid can become overloaded. In some cases, negative prices even arise, requiring energy producers to pay for the electricity generated. This can have implications for obtaining subsidies. Our RIMOTE integration platform provides functionality to optimize their costs and better balance the energy grid.

Demand management

Demand control is the temporary lowering or raising of the demand for electricity in a "controllable" electrical process. The electrical process temporarily consumes more or less energy without negatively affecting the process. By using companies' electrical processes through Scholt Energy as a flexible resource, a surplus or shortage on the electricity grid is prevented. Companies thereby contribute to balance maintenance on the electricity grid and receive compensation for this.
